Why is the payment method I switched on missing from my checkout?
Usually one of three things. The method has to be switched on with the gateway itself, not just connected to systeme.io. The funnel's own currency has to be one that method accepts, or the option can fail to appear at all. And several methods refuse to process a payment unless a specific field, often just an email address, is on the order form.
The three things that decide whether it shows
Every extra payment method systeme.io offers, iDEAL, Bancontact, Klarna, Multibanco, Mollie, GoCardless, Razorpay, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, Xendit and Secure and Pay, is gated by the same two conditions on its own page, usually in a short notes block near the bottom: enabled with the gateway itself, and a funnel currency it actually accepts. Most of them add a third, a specific field the order form has to carry. Miss any one and nothing on the checkout page says which you missed.
Enabled somewhere that is not systeme.io
For Klarna and Multibanco, the switch is inside your own Stripe dashboard: Settings, then Payments, then Payment methods, where each one sits Disabled until you turn it on. iDEAL and Bancontact need to be integrated and enabled in Stripe, plus SEPA Direct Debit enabled on the account, before systeme.io will do anything with them.
The separate gateways, Mollie, GoCardless, Razorpay, Flutterwave, Mercado Pago, Xendit and Secure and Pay, are connected under Settings, then Payment Gateways. Mollie has an extra step nothing in systeme.io reminds you of: which payment methods it actually accepts is chosen inside the Mollie dashboard itself, under Settings, then Profiles, then Payment methods. Connecting the account is not the same as switching anything on there.
The currency test that hides the checkbox itself
systeme.io states this in near-identical wording for Klarna and Multibanco: once the method is enabled in Stripe and the funnel is using a supported currency, the option automatically appears in Funnel settings. Read the other way round, a funnel in an unsupported currency never shows the checkbox at all. There is no error message for this. The setting is not there to tick.
iDEAL and Bancontact only ever take EUR, and Multibanco is the same. Klarna's accepted currencies depend on where your own Stripe account is registered rather than where the buyer is, with a fixed single currency for merchants in the US, Canada, Australia or New Zealand, and a wider multi-currency list for merchants in Europe and the UK. Every separate gateway publishes its own fixed currency list on its own integration page. What none of them documents is what an unsupported currency actually does: hide the checkbox, raise an error, or let the payment fail without saying why.
The field that lets it show and still refuses the payment
This is the condition that looks like the checkout is broken rather than misconfigured, because the method is visible and still will not take the payment.
| Method | What the order form must include |
|---|---|
| Mollie | |
| GoCardless | |
| Bancontact | Email and first name |
| Klarna | Country |
| Razorpay | Email, first name, last name and phone number |
| Mercado Pago | Email, first name, last name, country and VAT number |
| Flutterwave | |
| Secure and Pay | Email, first name and last name |
systeme.io's own wording for several of these is direct: without the field, the gateway cannot process the transaction. iDEAL, Multibanco and Xendit document no extra field beyond the currency and enablement conditions above.
