Why can't my student download their certificate of completion?
Two separate conditions both have to be true. You have to turn on Issue certificate upon completion in the course's own settings, and the student has to mark every lecture in the course as complete to reach 100% progress. If either one is missing, there is no certificate to download.
The setting only you can turn on
Go to Assets, then Courses, click the three dots next to the course, and choose Settings. Scroll down and tick Issue certificate upon completion, then save.
If this box was never ticked, no student will ever see a certificate for that course, no matter how much of it they finish. That is the first thing to check if more than one student has the same complaint, since a setting missed at the course level affects everyone enrolled in it.
Two optional branding fields sit next to it: a certificate logo and a signature image. Both are cosmetic additions to the layout, not requirements for the certificate to exist.
The 100% the student actually needs
On the student's side, systeme.io's own wording is specific: the student must mark all lectures in the course as complete to reach 100% progress before the download option appears. Once they hit it, a Certificate of completion section shows up on their dashboard, and clicking through to Download Certificate of Completion is what actually gets them the file.
What is not explained is how a lecture gets marked complete in the first place: whether that happens automatically once the student finishes watching it, or only when they click something themselves. No article in the help centre covers that mechanic. If a student insists they watched everything and still has no certificate, that gap is worth checking before assuming something is broken.
What can and cannot be changed on the certificate itself
Beyond the logo and the signature, systeme.io states that the certificate is generated automatically and cannot be modified. The wording, the layout and the format are fixed.
