Is the free migration actually free?
There is no charge for the service itself, but it is only offered on the Unlimited monthly plan or on any annual plan. The cost is the subscription you have to be on to qualify.
What it costs
Nothing extra. systeme.io states that the migration service carries no additional fee, and that it is included with the Unlimited monthly plan at $97 a month or with any annual plan.
The condition is the plan, so the honest answer is that the migration is free and the qualifying subscription is not. Any annual plan counts, not only the annual Unlimited one, so the cheapest way in is an annual subscription on whichever tier fits the business. The pricing page lists yearly billing as two months free.
One inconsistency matters before budgeting. The pricing page's own FAQ describes the free migration service as part of the Unlimited plan and does not mention annual plans on other tiers. The help centre and the migration page both say Unlimited monthly or any annual plan.
What is actually included
Two lists exist and they are not the same length. The help centre names six things. The migration page's table has nine, plus a tenth row about payment history that its own note says stays behind.
| What gets moved | Named in the help centre | Named on the migration page |
|---|---|---|
| Contacts | Yes | Yes, with tags where possible |
| Sales funnel pages | Yes | Yes, rebuilt in the editor |
| Blogs and articles | Yes | Yes |
| Courses | Yes | Yes, with lessons, modules and student access |
| Emails, campaigns and automations | Yes, as two separate items | Yes, as one, rebuilt in the automation editor |
| Digital products and offers | Not listed | Yes, with pricing and checkout pages |
| Customer and student records | Not listed | Yes, imported as contacts |
| Affiliate programme setup | Not listed | Yes, the structure rebuilt |
| Custom domain connection | Not listed | Yes, with DNS setup support |
Physical products sit oddly across the two. Four of the five platform guides give them a numbered step of their own, covering name, description, SKUs, tax, currency, price and images, yet they appear in neither summary list.
The condition attached to the list
The help centre's wording is that, depending on your plan's limits, the migration includes those items. The limits of the plan you land on still apply to what arrives, so the service moves your business into a plan rather than around one.
What is not carried across
- Payment history. The migration page's note against transaction history is that it stays with your original payment processor.
- The right to send straight away. An imported contact list is verified by the team before any sending, using a short form of a few questions that confirms the compliance and consent of the contacts.
- Your old account. Nothing is deleted or changed there. The content is copied, so the old platform stays usable throughout.
Which platforms it covers
The help centre publishes step-by-step migration guides for five platforms: ClickFunnels, GoHighLevel, Kajabi, Kartra and Podia. There is no Teachable guide anywhere in it.
The absence of a guide is not the absence of the service. The migration page names Teachable among the platforms the team handles, alongside Mailchimp, ActiveCampaign, Keap and WordPress or WooCommerce, and tells anyone on something else to check with support before signing up.
The article describing the free migration itself names no platform at all. It sets the conditions in terms of the systeme.io plan, not in terms of where the business is coming from.
How long it takes
The two published answers do not agree, so plan for the longer one.
- The help centre: 17 days on average, varying with the amount and complexity of the content. The agent handling the ticket analyses the content first and gives an estimate.
- The migration page: 2 to 5 business days for one funnel, an email list and a few products, and 1 to 2 weeks for multiple courses, complex automations and large contact lists.
Requests are handled first come, first served, and everything is rebuilt manually by a person rather than imported by a tool. That is why the size of the business changes the answer so much.
What it asks of you
- Access to the old platform. The help centre says the team asks for the old account credentials to add you to the queue, then uses them when your turn comes. The migration page words it as screenshots, export files, or a read-only login where one is available.
- Leave the content alone. The instruction is not to edit content while it is being copied.
- Stay out of the pages being built. systeme.io can be used during the migration, as long as the pages the team is currently working on are left untouched.
Progress arrives by email, with a notification at every major step.
