If I cancel, do I keep my content?
Yes. Content is kept rather than deleted, the cancellation takes effect at the end of the period already paid for, and contacts above the free plan limit are archived instead of removed.
What survives a cancellation
The account is not emptied. systeme.io states that content is not automatically deleted, and its pricing page adds that contacts above the free plan limit are archived rather than deleted, with full access restored if a paid plan is started again.
Not deleted is not the same as still working, which is the part worth reading past.
When the cancellation actually happens
Not on the day you press it. systeme.io says a cancellation takes effect just before the next expiration date, so the plan runs to the end of the period already paid for.
Its own worked example: a monthly subscription bought on 4 September and cancelled on 10 September is cancelled on 4 October.
That gap matters, because everything below is worth doing inside it.
Where cancelling happens: Settings, then Manage my subscriptions
Click the profile picture, then Settings, then that page. Find the subscription you want to end, click the three dots, then Cancel subscription, then Confirm on the popup that appears.
Two things narrow that page. It lists subscriptions only, so an offer being paid in instalments cannot be cancelled this way. And it is reserved for the account owner, so an assistant will not find it and neither will an administrator.
Export the contacts before the date
systeme.io support recommends exporting your contacts before a cancellation takes effect, if you want to keep them. The archive described above is inside the account, and a copy of your own is a different thing.
The route: the CRM tab, then Contacts, then select the contacts you want, then More actions, then Export.
Nothing downloads in the browser. A CSV is generated and sent to the email address on the account, and that file stays available for 3 days. After that it is deleted automatically and cannot be recovered, so the export has to be run again.
What the account becomes
A free plan account. If everything inside it fits the free limits, it carries on working normally.
If it does not fit, the pre-restriction countdown starts: three warning emails, one a day, then a restricted account on the fourth day. The content is still there and parts of the account stop working.
The one way the content is genuinely lost
Neither cancelling nor being restricted removes anything. Six months of silence can. systeme.io states that content may be permanently removed if no login or activity occurs for 6 months.
So the case to avoid is not the cancellation. It is the cancelled account nobody signs into again.
