Free plan or free trial: which one am I actually on?

The short version

systeme.io's free plan never expires and does not require a credit card. There is no clock on it, so nothing is going to run out and lock you out of your funnels.

Where to look

Two pages in Settings answer this, and both are reserved for the account owner. An assistant, and even an admin, will not see either one.

My plan

This is the page where a systeme.io subscription plan is managed. Whatever it says the account is on, that is what the account is on.

Manage my subscriptions

This lists what you are subscribed to, both to systeme.io itself and to anything else you bought that is hosted on it. A cancellation started here takes effect immediately before the next expiry date, not on the day you press it.

Between the two pages you have your answer. If nothing is billing you, nothing is going to expire.

What "free trial" means inside systeme.io

It is a setting on a price plan you sell, not a state your account is in.

When you build a subscription or a payment plan for your own product, you can name a trial period. systeme.io defines it as the length of time customers have free access before being charged, and it is set in days, weeks, months or years.

So the phrase you keep meeting in the menus belongs to your buyers. It has nothing to do with your own billing.

If a paid plan lapses

Plans can be changed up or down at any time from account settings. Cancel one and your data stays reachable on the free plan while your contact count stays inside 2,000.

Above that number, the contacts over the limit are archived rather than deleted, and starting a paid plan again restores full access to them.

Where the documentation disagrees with itself

The pricing page describes four plans, and the only thing it says about expiry is that the free plan has none. One help article about setting clients up with sub-accounts talks about signing up for a paid plan or starting a free trial.

Trust the My plan page over the phrase. It is the page that reports what your account is actually on.
