Emails

These answers exist because systeme.io uses four words for things that overlap. Start with campaign against newsletter, which is the distinction everything else depends on, then what a tag is for, because you send to tags rather than to a list. Sequences and broadcasts are the same argument in different words. The troubleshooting answers, on emails not sending or arriving twice, all trace back to one of those four things being the wrong one.

• What is the difference between a campaign and a newsletter? One goes out on a timer. The other goes out when you press send.
• How many emails can I send on the free plan? Unlimited. Sending is not what the plans are priced on.
• What is a tag actually for? A label on a contact. Nothing gets sent to anybody without one.
• Is a sequence the same thing as a campaign? Same features, different names. What your old tool called things, and what systeme.io calls them.
• Why hasn't my campaign email gone out yet? A delay that is still running, an email nobody activated, or a hold sitting on the account itself.
• What is a sender address and why does it matter so much? The From line on everything you send. One setting, and it decides whether anything arrives.
• Can I send from my Gmail address? No, and there is a date on it. Which free addresses still work, and what to use instead.
• What does an email footer legally have to contain? Two switches in Settings, one badge you cannot remove for free, and one question no help article answers.
• How often should I email a list that is brand new? There is no number in the documentation. There is a shape, and it rules out both extremes.
• Unsubscribed, bounced, complained: what is the difference? Three different things happen. systeme.io files them under two labels, and that catches people out.
• Can I bring my old autoresponder's emails with me? Yes, but only two ways: their migration team, or your own copy and paste. There is no import file.
• If I delete an email campaign, what happens to the people halfway through it? Interrupted at once, and everyone in it is unsubscribed from it for good.
• Why did my subscribers get the same email twice? Not a fault. Three documented systeme.io actions can send the same content twice.
• Classic editor or visual editor: which should I write my emails in? One of the two is not even offered for every kind of email systeme.io sends.
• I deactivated the last emails in my campaign. Does it count as completed? Nothing completes, so the tag does not fire. It has to be added another way.
